Managers, supervisors and staff based outside the UK from all types of organisations making day-to-day decisions at work that need a broad understanding of health and safety issues and be able to manage risks effectively.
The NEBOSH International General Certificate is also suitable for those embarking on a career in health and safety, providing a valuable foundation for further professional study.
There are no entry requirements for this course, though a standard of English required by students must be such that they can both understand and express the concepts contained in the syllabus.
As well as covering a range of workplace hazards and methods of control, it includes international standards for safety and health management including International Labour Organisation codes of practice.
The qualification is divided into three units:
The course duration is for 10 days and candidates are assessed with written examinations for each of the two taught units and a practical workplace assessment.
Holders of NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety are entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technical membership (Tech IOSH) of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH – www.iosh.co.uk) and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management
